I don’t really believe in all that conspiracy/ufo theory in connection with “Area 51”, but I found it all interesting and worth seeing. I understand many knowledgeable people seriously believe in it, and I also understand others simply do business based on the UFO theory such as games, tourists tours and attraction.

Area 51 is a nickname for a military base that is located 83 miles from Las Vegas. The base's primary purpose is to support development and testing of experimental aircraft and weapons systems.

In 1989, Bob Lazar claimed on a Las Vegas television station that he had worked with alien spacecraft ( for the purpose of "reverse engineering" alien flying saucers) at Papoose Lake, south of Area 51.   He alleged that nine of these disc-shaped craft were flown from a highly secure facility named "S-4" at Papoose Lake, 10 miles southwest of Groom Lake. Since then, "Area 51" has become a popular symbol for the alleged UFO cover-up.

The UFO conspiracy theory is any one of many conspiracy theories in which it is suggested that major world governments (particularly the United States government) have proof that UFOs are the result of alien visitation, but are suppressing this information either for nefarious purposes and/or out of the belief that mankind is unprepared to deal with the psychological, social, or theological implications of such a reality.

Directions:
From Las Vegas take I-15 north for 22 miles. At exit 64 take US-93 north. After 85 miles, 12 miles past Alamo, you come to the intersection with Hwy. 318 on the left.
At the intersection turn left onto Hwy. 318, and Within less than a mile veer left again onto Hwy. 375. At that intersection you will see the "Extraterrestrial Highway" sign under a group of trees.
From the beginning of Hwy. 375 it is about 15 miles over Hancock Summit to the beginning of Groom Lake Road, 20 miles to the Black Mailbox and 39 miles to Rachel.

The road going to the military “Area 51” is on your left side, just little bit before the sign “Rachel 20 miles”, and little pass the highway side mark “35” miles. The road going to that area is not marked but there is a stop sigh facing the exit form that “military” road. You will see the blank spot of the stop sign from the highway. There may also be a red container next to that unmarked road.
The last gas stations are in Alamo, so watch your gas.
Please note that most of Hwy. 375 is open range. There are no fences, and animals frequently wander across the road. Be especially careful at night, when cows on the road are very hard to see. Running into a cow will not only cause severe damage to your vehicle, but you will also have to reimburse the rancher for the cow. And it is usually his most expensive cow.

Don’t cross into the military site!-     If you ever not sure if you can go farther without going into military site, do not go!

While coming late, don’t count on “Little Alien” motel in Rachel. It’s operated by older people and they won’t talk to you after late evening. There are motels in Alamo. When you in the Rachel city (where the Alien motel and a store-next to the old gas station- with Area 51 souvenirs are) go towards L. Vegas until you’ll pass a road side mark “43” miles. About half mile later you’ll see the road on your right side. Go about 13 miles to the military site borer.
